Yes, but adopting AI should make output per employee increase. Employees become more valuable if their output continues to increase. Otherwise, if... you owned the company, how willing would you be to keep increasing wages with no commensurate increase in output? Will you pay more for the same work? more

That's a hard one to answer without additional information. What is the company size? Number of employees? What industry? Maybe the company has... specific plans for those profits; shareholder dividends, new facilities for expansion, R&D expenses, new products, expand into new markets or maybe an acquisition? They may be right in responding the way they did.
Did you lay out the specific reasons you deserve a raise? What additional value did you bring to your role? (savings generated, new streamlined processes implemented, new ideas of yours they adopted).  more

A job is much more than about the pay you receive. Did you like your prior position? Did you like the people you worked with? Do you like your... current job better? Have the financials in the old company changed where maybe you did not get a raise because they could not afford it and now they can? A tough call. My personal preference is to have a conversation with my boss that goes like this: "I will never come to you asking for a raise. I... believe it is your responsibility to make sure I am fairly and competitively paid. This way I do not have to listen to all the headhunter calls and worry if I am paid appropriately for my contributions to the company." Now all the pressure is on them, not you.
In this case, I would respond like this: "If I am now worth $X, why was I not worth $X yesterday?" The answer you receive will speak volumes and guide you in your next move; stay or go. more

Money is the last reason you should take a job. The work you do, the people you work with, work/life balance, they all mean more than $$$.

I would never say that. Say something like "I want more/faster career advancement and responsibilities." What would your reaction be if your boss... came in and said, "I'm replacing you with someone I can pay a lot less to"? It depends on many factors; Do you really like the jobs you have had there? Are you fairly compensated for the work you do? Do you enjoy the people... you work with? You need to continue to focus on accomplishments, net savings, increases in revenue, etc. that you were responsible for. Those things are music to... hiring manager's ears and get stacked above "experience". I would hire someone with far more output metrics over someone with more years of "experience". more

How strong is your resume and cover letter(s)?
25 years of service at one company is impressive, however employers are looking for problem solvers and... contributors that match or exceed their experience. List not just duties and responsibilities, but accomplishments. What problems did you solve? What significant accomplishments did you achieve? (for example, " I developed, proposed and implemented a system that led to X increased revenue, or X reduction in response time to...." Statements that make a prospective employer say to themselves " I really need this person here".  more

I too would ask for the salary range for the position. If your current compensation is within that range, you could answer "my current salary is... within that range", or, "my current pay is higher/lower that that range". more

Tell your boss: "I just want you to know that I will never come to... you asking for a raise. I believe it is your responsibility to make sure I am fairly and competitively compensated for my work. This way I do not need to answer those headhunting calls and if I ever feel I am underpaid for the contributions I make to this firm, my letter of resignation will be on your desk." more

Asking for a raise is not uncommon, but you will help yourself immensely if you offer reasons that you deserve one. As a boss, we all know about... rising prices and cost of living increases. However, employees that come in with solid justifications for asking for that raise are helpful. For example, have you increased productivity, taken on additional responsibilities, added value in any other ways? Lay out your value and a raise should follow. more

Many good points. A couple more thoughts: in my opinion. On time us at.least 10 minutes late. Be prepared for anything unexpected. Everyone writes... emails or texts. I do not respond to many emails, and if they come from unknown people, I rarely look at them. Try doing things that most do not do. CALL the interviewer to thank them. You may get additional questions other candidates didn't get. And follow the call upmwith a personalized, hand written note.
When was the last time you received one of those? Exactly, hard to remember, right? Doing things others do not do gets you recognized and remembered.
