Your manager chastised you in... front of an audience because she doesn't respect you. I fear had you stayed her disrespect would've continued and your peers would've disrespected you as well. You made the right decision! It's better to leave under one bad situation than multiple. People will think you are the problem had you stayed longer.  more

But since you have left maybe in your next job do not be haste to quit, seek advise and direction first. the answer might be closer than you think. more

If the criticism was justified. you needed to improve your performance. If you felt your work was fine and you were unfairly picked on, then you... probably made the right decision. I had dealt with this kind of work environment before with my former employer the hiring manager at IHOP back in early 2007 I was young 22 years old... and I must've not been performing up my manager's precise preferences or not by the IHOP's owner's (SOP) and she literally would talk 💩 directly to my face and belittling me saying "I should have NEVER hired you and you're worst front of house server I've EVER had hired" but here's the funniest thing about that situation is that my manager's upper management the GM he actually liked me and he sorta let me do my own thing bc I had server experience a few years back before coming to IHOP so I did know the steps of guest services but this lady manager was like 6'1 - 6'2 and skinny like Olive Oyl (Popeye's GF) 😄😆 and was a staunch supporter of Republican politics which is one of the ONLY reasons why she got along with me on most days and I pretty much avoided her as much as possible. In this case, you have several choices
1 Ask if you can be rehired
2. If rehired, ask for a private meeting with him to discuss the issue.
3. Grow a... thicker skin. That's tough to develop and you can change the narrative you have in your head. He / She will
/will probably not change unless he gets feedback from a third party. I wish you well in what ever you choose to do.
4. In my practice, if possible is for me to not quit a job unless I have another one lined up.
