Companies will contact the current employer to get a recommendation. At which point in time, they will sometimes pretend they want. You around just to... make sure you don't leave. Make sure this is something you want. And run a great assessment have the environment in the culture?And see if you fit in. more

Consider the atmosphere at the work space before taking an action. if the atmosphere in your workspace is not toxic you can stay if you enjoy the job.... but if otherwise, do the needful. Money is not everything you can compare other benefits you can gain in the two organizations such as learning new skills, courses and the opportunity of meeting new people. more

Promotion is okay but don't forget the job environment. Healthy environment not toxic one: the most important thing.

Very simple. Have him put up or shut up! If you are not moving up the food chain, somebody else is. Is the new job a promotion/different job, or the... same as what you do today? This is very important. Another company offering more money will most likely want more work out of you. Just remember job changes should be strategic. If done right the money will be there. What does loyality mean to your boss. And what does that have to do with your work performance? Was the word loyalty a part of the job description and... are promotions contingent upon your"loyality"? Its not your job to be loyal. You are responsible for doing your job not being loyal. Was the government loyal when they fired 300, 000 last year via DOGE? Don't get caught up in office politics and the bosses vision about work place allegiance. Do your job well. You owe them nothing more than that. If you want to stay because you like where you work then fine. If you want to leave for more money - to an environment you are unfamiliar- so be it. The choice is yours not your bosses based on his/her interpretation of company loyality! more

Did you go to school? Why would some hold you Hostage? A healthy working environment that allows you grow is an environment everyone wishes to thrive... in not an environment where you are driven with conditions. How will you grow as an individual and for the Organization to grow and meet its objective? Get a place where you are not treated with hash conditions. You paid your tuition and you worked hard to get to that job. So move to where you are valued and exploit your potential to grow that entity simple. more

Weigh the pros and cons of both jobs,
do your cost-benefit analysis.
Put your long term career aspirations into consideration, sometimes Loyalty... pays off, sometimes it's just a pure waste of time, and lock down.

How much more is the new place offering ?
Is your success at the new place guaranteed and you are sure that you will survive ?
Do you see yourself getting that much pay raise when you are "eventually" promoted ? what is the compensation range/scale for the role you "hope" to be promoted to ?
Is there a timeline to the promotion talk or just open ended ?

People make money by job hopping every 2-3 years. No one would ever give their employees a 10-15% annual raise, but when you get a new job, its... usually because they already pay 20-30% more when you start it, as a base salary. Take the job, call it a day. But leave on good terms. Always try to leave people better then you found them. more

My opinion: Pray about it.
If your manager says you have to be loyal, it means there's something in you that is off and needs development. Loyalty is... important in growth, honour is also important. Building quality relationships to me is more preferred than a better offer, if you can build a quality relationship with your manager while maintaining due diligence, productivity and efficiency, there's nothing that won't come to you.
Having a job is not usually about "money" , no amount of money is ever enough afterall, what matters is purpose and fulfilment.

However, which ever way you believe God is leading you to, that's where your peace resides, check in with Him and your inner being then decide for yourself. Don't pursue the money, pursue purpose and value creation.  more
