I started in the 1980s with the zines Happy Thrasher (1987-1992) and Angry Thoreauan (1992-2002) which included pre-Nirvana Dave Grohl, 1980s-era Sublime, and bands such as Offspring back when they played hotels in Anaheim. I also had columns and photos in legendary... punk rags such as fLiPSiDE, Maximum Rocknroll, and Ben Is Dead as well as mainstream magazines such as Alternative Press, Working World, and Hollywood Now!
In the early Aughts, I published photo-filled chapbooks on my NYC-based small press house, MetroHop Books; wrote and photographed for a group of NYC newspapers; co-published the L.A.-based poetry broadsheet, BrickBat Revue; co-published the Inglewood, CA-based community newspaper, Morningside Park Chronicle.
I have revived MetroHop Books (now in NC) and presently feature "F==K YOUR FLAG," a field guide of desecrated American flags that promote political violence. It’s a first-of-its kind title that explores the origins, myths, and symbols printed on defiled American flags that promote targeted hate.
