  • Purpose and scope of work:
  • Regional Health Extender is expected to carry out a range of duties, as outlined below, to support monitoring functions, demand generation, accountability to affected population mechanisms, technical facilitation, and programmed implementation.
  • Those duties, which are described in detail below, do not include neither programmatic nor financial authority. Health Extenders are identified among Afghan citizens with specific expertise and a thorough knowledge of the territory in which they operate, based on their residency and/or work experience.
  • Technical support:
  • 1. Support the zonal office programmed implementation and result, by improving health Extender’s network performance through coordination and technical support
  • 2. Provide technical support to provincial health Extenders on issues related to monitoring EPI, MNCH, Health in emergency, cold chain, and health supplies management.

  • Situation analysis and assessment:
  • 6. Support regional and provincial needs assessments activities and provide capacity building for data collectors when required.

  • 1. Collaborate with AFIAT Senior Field Office Manager and PI officers to initiate dialogue with PPHOs in support of project implementation.

  • Take overall responsibility for the control of outbreaks of infectious disease under the NDSR guidelines issued by MoPH/APHI, and coordinate control of major outbreaks and work closely with the infection control doctors in hospitals and other Provincial stakeholders.
  • As a Provincial Disease Surveillance Officer, I have been responsible for monitoring, detecting, and responding to disease outbreaks in the province. I have worked with a team of epidemiologists, public health professionals, and healthcare providers to collect and analyze data on disease trends and patterns, identify potential outbreaks, and develop strategies to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases.
  • I have also been responsible for coordinating disease surveillance activities across the province, including the implementation of surveillance systems, training of healthcare providers, and communication with local health departments and other stakeholders.
  • In addition, I have worked closely with provincial and national health authorities to ensure that disease surveillance activities are aligned with national and international standards and guidelines. I have also been involved in the development and implementation of public health policies and initiatives related to disease surveillance and control.
