I wanted to ask your advice, is this normal practice or am I missing something? A couple of days ago I had an interview for a sales manager position. When we said goodbye, the HR manager told me they would get in touch with me.

Today they called and asked why I didn’t show up to work, because they had sent me a text message yesterday evening. I didn’t see it, of course. Now I’m wondering whether I should even consider working for a company that handles things this way.

What do you think? Thanks.

    Hello, I work as an HR recruiter and the situation the company that you’ve dealt with has unacceptable hiring practices. If there was no offer issued... via email, Docusign, employee portal or in person then this sounds extremely shady. Any company, whether it’s small, midsized or major will confirm your start date/compensation/work location and dress code if applicable. Also, onboarding would take place either online or in person which would include you signing I9 form and taking a photo for your employee badge. Last, company would require for you to complete background checks and drug testing.

    Did you look up this company’s hiring process on employment websites such as LinkedIn or indeed? Gage what other employees had to go through.      more

    Always be conscious of what you are going to do never try to weigh the place you would like work in before because you might be biased and lose... interest all that is part of interview to check up your capability or seriousness of doing work so please go and take up your job before it is too late more

    Showing my age here, but on the 90s sitcom "Seinfeld" the zany character Kramer did the opposite: he showed up for a job he hadn't been hired for. ... He likes it and is popular for a bit, but he retorts that he doesn't even work there when the boss complains about his output.  more

    Yes, you still need to consider them. Try to reply to the answer and start the work as soon as possible

    Spare your Mental Health and Emotional Well Being before anything! No compromise on those. They're already setting you up for a TOXIC work... environment. All money is not good money. The cost of your peace is worthless!!! more

    You were there to be interviewed not to interview, go and work, otherwise, that HR has a job, you won't.

    Go to work!!! Jobs are difficult to get. Evaluate and make your decision to stay or leave.

    As I see it, you passed as worker, but they did not pass as employer 😉

    I think the i deal way is to go and join them ,as a leader you already have the loophole in that company to make change as time goes by .

    Companies differ in their operations so try find out what would help you not to miss your chance so please go and secure the place

    Go and start work. Then help the company start a better communication system. SMS is a valid communication as long as it is orinated from a senior... company employee such as HR Manager. more
