We’re a small company, and in the kitchen there’s always tea, coffee, sugar, and creamer. If you need office supplies, you can go to the storage room and take what you need.

But I’ve noticed that a coworker often leaves with a jar of coffee, a pack of sugar, or even a pack of printer paper in his backpack. Should I tell my boss about it, or is it none of my business?

Thanks for the advice.

The company doesn't exist if there isn't a profit so that stuff is all paid for or insured. People need things to function and if you can't up their... wage then you should look the other way. I guarantee they wouldnt if you pay them a livable wage. Nobody wants to steal. You are closer to their predicament than you are to a salaried boss man who (i promise) doesn't give a shit about the sugar. It does. Not. Affect. You. If you see a coworker take something - no you didn't 👀 more

  • Unless if they investigate the matter. But it will happen only if the manager had notice the changes within the working environment.

  • You would be in violation of the code of conduct by not reporting theft. All those little incidentals cost the company, thereby affecting its profit... margin and leading up to pay increases & bonus payouts. Yes, it unethical not to expose it. • So there is no department or person responsible for those items? If you are not directly responsible learn to mind your business at every job and... always learn to execute your roles and responsibilities per your job description or position....
Everyone has a role in any employment settings.
Just kindly show up at your job and perform what u are supposed to do then leave or sign out honourably..
    Just my humble opinion 🙏🙏🙏

  • First get to him and know why he's doing it. Some people are going through alot in their homes. Talk to him cautiously. They will stop.

  • This is something that you should take to your supervisor. You don't need to put yourself into a position of warning the person. If it continues and... you are aware of it, and failed to report it, you can be terminated for cause. Taking those items is technically theft.  more

  • I think you should first get to that person before any other person and if does not listen to its when you will get to any other person be careful not... let yourself lose your intergrity  more

  • Talk to the guy first and try to convince him to stop

  • Have you tried to approach them one on one and find out why?

  • Should you tell your boss? Can't you think of a more subtle way of raising awareness of the situation without saying so out loud?
