A young, attractive woman just joined our team and immediately started dating a guy from IT. I get it, she’s young and has a personal life. But she basically doesn’t work. She’s always on her phone or disappearing, and when she does do something, it’s full of mistakes.
We’re the ones getting in trouble from management because of this. Now we’re not sure, should we just keep an eye on her work ourselves, or tell the boss this can’t keep going?

Not sure I understand why we have to hear about her looks and who she is dating or even the sex of the person. Just say a new coworker is not doing... their job. Now, why do you (who is we?) get into trouble about her work? Are you training her or team leading her? more

  • Don’t keep covering for her; that’s why the blame is landing on you.
Document specific errors, missed deadlines, and rework.
Have one person raise it... to the manager, focused on impact and delivery.
If management knows and does nothing, the problem is bigger than her.

  • I had a similar employee except that she was not dating any staff. I directed the HR to handle her performance issues as this is a HR case. After... several official warnings about her work ethos, we had to let her go find her passion elsewhere. Simple more
