Job Purpose

The EMAP Assistant will support the implementation of the EMAP approach under the Resilience and Social Cohesion (Peace) project in Northeast Nigeria. Working closely with the EMAP Officer, the Assistant will help facilitate community sessions, mobilize participants, and provide... logistical, administrative, and monitoring support. The role aims to promote positive masculinity, prevent gender-based violence (GBV), and strengthen peaceful coexistence within communities by ensuring smooth delivery of EMAP activities and inclusive participation of men, women, and youth.

Responsibilities


Support the EMAP Officer in implementing the Engaging Men through Accountable Practice (EMAP) approach to prevent GBV and promote gender equality in target communities.
Assist in facilitating structured EMAP sessions with male and female participants under the guidance of the EMAP Officer.
Mobilize community members and register participants in collaboration with local peace committees (LPCs), religious leaders, and protection staff.
Help promote positive masculinity, respectful behaviours, and support for women and girls through guided discussions and sensitization activities.
Provide logistical and administrative support during EMAP training, sensitization, and community engagement sessions.

Requirements


Diploma or Certificate in Social Work, Community Development, Gender Studies, Peacebuilding, or related field (a degree is an added advantage).
Minimum of 1 year experience in community mobilization, facilitation, or support roles in GBV prevention, peacebuilding, or social cohesion projects.
Basic knowledge of gender equality, GBV, and protection principles.
Ability to engage respectfully with male community members and promote open dialogue.
Experience working with community-based structures (peace clubs, youth groups, LPCs, etc.).
Good communication skills in English and fluency in local languages (e.g., Hausa, Kanuri).
Demonstrated commitment to accountability, inclusion, and safeguarding standards.

Qualifications and Experience

Education


University Degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Law, Development Studies, or a related field.


Professional Experience


Minimum of 2 years working in protection or gender in humanitarian settings.
Experience with gender-responsive programming or GBV case management/referrals is an asset.
Previous work with displaced or marginalized populations is preferred.


Skills and Competencies


Strong understanding of gender and protection principles, including survivor-centred and intersectional approaches.
Experience in data collection and analysis with a gender lens.

Complaints and Feedback Management


Receive, document, and manage complaints and feedback from community members regarding project activities using established channels such as MODA and SUGAR CRM platforms.
Ensure timely and accurate logging of complaints and feedback in the CRM database, categorising issues based on urgency, sensitivity, and thematic area.
Ensure strict confidentiality and protection of sensitive information throughout the feedback process in accordance with data protection and safeguarding standards.


System Development and Coordination


Support the roll-out of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for complaint management to ensure consistent application of policies and prompt action, such as Community Complaints Management Committees
Work with community stakeholders to strengthen awareness and trust in the CFM, ensuring accessibility and inclusiveness for women, children, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.


Data Management and Reporting


Maintain and update the CRM database to ensure completeness, accuracy, and integrity of recorded complaints and responses.
Aggregate complaint trends and feedback issues, producing monthly and quarterly analytical reports to guide program improvements and strategic planning.
Contribute to internal learning by documenting recurring complaints, community concerns, and examples of positive feedback.
