Reports to: Project Manager and Head of Finance

Job Summary

The Finance Officer will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring compliance with DHCBI’s policies and donor requirements, and supporting financial planning, reporting, and budgeting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and has experience managing finances in a humanitarian or NGO context.

Key Responsibilities


Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and cashbooks in line with organizational standards.
Prepare monthly financial reports, including expenditure tracking and budget monitoring.
Process payments, bank reconciliations, and staff advance retirements.
Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, donor guidelines, and audit requirements.
Support budget development, forecasting, and expenditure analysis for ongoing projects.
Liaise with vendors, banks, and relevant internal teams for smooth financial operations.
Support project audits and respond to queries from auditors and donor representatives.


Requirements


Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (ICAN/ACCA part qualification is an advantage).
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial management, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian setting.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage).
Strong understanding of donor financial regulations (e.g., WFP, USAID, EU).
Excellent attention to detail, integrity, and ability to work under pressure.
Fluent in English; working knowledge of Hausa or Kanuri is an added advantage.
