Role Overview:


We are looking for a Payments Operations Specialist to join our Finance team. This individual will be responsible for end-to-end payment operations across all customer, merchant, and treasury-related flows. You will drive the execution, monitoring, reconciliation, and continuous improvement of our payment processes across multiple currencies, banking partners, and digital... asset rails.
The ideal candidate is highly analytical, process-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced fintech startup environment. You should have deep experience in payment operations, FX, and cross-border settlements, with a proven track record of owning complex transaction lifecycles and improving operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:


Own and manage the entire payment lifecycle: initiation, processing, monitoring, and settlement for both inbound and outbound transactions.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders (finance, product, engineering, customer support) and external partners (banks, PSPs, FX providers) to ensure smooth payment flows.
Lead the creation and optimization of payment processes, SLAs, and escalation procedures.
Track the status of payments and trades in real-time and provide timely updates to internal teams and merchants.
Ensure timely payouts to merchants and resolution of settlement issues.
Implement robust reconciliation and exception handling processes across multiple bank accounts and payment rails.
Assist in onboarding new financial partners and ensuring their systems and documentation are integrated into operations.
Build and maintain dashboards or reports to visualize payment performance metrics and operational health.
Proactively identify risks, delays, or gaps in the payment lifecycle and drive solutions to prevent recurrence.
Work closely with compliance and finance teams to ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory standards.


Qualifications and Experience:


5+ years experience in payment operations, treasury operations, or transaction banking within a fintech, payments, or financial services company.
Strong understanding of cross-border payment flows, FX processes, and multi-currency banking environments.
Experience managing complex banking relationships and settlement structures.
Familiarity with stablecoins, crypto exchanges, and blockchain-based settlement rails is a plus.
High attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and ability to work with large volumes of data.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with tools like QuickBooks, Quicksight, or SQL is advantageous.

At least 5 years of progressive legal experience, with a significant portion in a leadership role.
