Role Summary


The Head, Legal and Compliance will be responsible for overseeing and managing all legal, regulatory, and compliance functions within the organisation. The successful candidate will provide strategic legal advice, implement compliance programs, mitigate legal risks, and ensure adherence to legal standards.


Job Responsibilities 


Provide strategic legal advice to senior management and the board of directors on business decisions and corporate strategies.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, industry standards, and corporate policies.
Provide regulatory compliance management for all Klasha's licenses globally.
Risk assessment and management for all compliance operations end to end.
Policy development and implementation; including training and creating awareness with employees, customers and providers.
Oversee the preparation, review, and negotiation of various legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and policies.
Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential legal and compliance risks.
Implement governance frameworks to maintain accountability and transparency within the organization.
Provide guidance on corporate governance best practices.
Identify potential legal risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
Provide legal support in handling litigation, disputes, and investigations.
Ensure the organization’s intellectual property is adequately protected.
Lead and manage the legal and compliance team, providing mentorship, training, and guidance.
Foster a culture of compliance and ethical behaviour across the organisation.
Collaborate with external legal counsel, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders as necessary.
Serve as the company’s representative in legal proceedings, regulatory hearings, or industry forums.


Person Specification


A Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) and admission to practice law in Nigeria (BL).
Relevant certifications in Compliance or Corporate Governance (e.g., CCP, CAMS, CCEP, CIPP) are desirable.
At least 5 years of progressive legal experience, with a significant portion in a leadership role.
Proven experience in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
In-depth knowledge of the legal landscape, industry regulations, and compliance standards.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
High ethical standards and attention to detail.
