Yaba College of Technology is the first and the best Tertiary Institution in Nigeria, established to produce graduates who are industry leaders in Technology, Science, Engineering, and Environment related professions. The institution has well above 40,000 full-time and part-time students and over 2,000 full-time staff and was the first higher institution of learning established in October 1947. This institution was the mother of several universities and polytechnics in Nigeria. They are
the first IT-driven public institution in Nigeria, offering a wide range of courses and educational activities; both Part-time, Full-Time, and Online.
● Manage multiple pods of 15 Programmers in building several applications which include;
○ An application that manages staff profiles which facilitates the printing of staff ID cards within two weeks,
digitally showcasing the quality of staff working in the college and their various researches, journals/publications, seminars, and conferences. This led to the ranking of the institution as number one in webometrics for five consecutive times.
○ HURIS (Human Resource Information System) application that provides the registry/administrators with a Staff Management tools, Promotion, Retirement, Profile editing, and Staff Distribution Charts.
○ Yabatech Mobile Verifier, an application used by Exam supervisors at the examination hall to identify fake students and impersonators. This has reduced exam malpractices to the barest minimum.
● Plan, coordinate, and oversee the technical and engineering activities of the team which include system design, code reviews, technical oversight, mentoring, and coaching. I also get hands-on when necessary.
● Grew the institution's digital space and attracted visitors from other institutions to learn from our professional deliveries.
● Drove the redesign of systems and processes and re-engineering of several other applications for the college to facilitate scalability, and deployment frequency and to improve other engineering practices.
● Created and established the Center for Information technology Unit in the institution which was the hub of software application development and services for the institution.
● Managed the development and implementation of the best student educational portals in Nigeria and Western Africa, exam registration system, exam docket management, result processing system, and other applications that helped the institution in offering educational services.
● Automated processes across the institution by managing the entire process of system analysis and application development to enhance activities across the institution. Some of those applications include;
○ e-library systems that help students access books and services at the library from their hostels and homes.
○ A digital health system that enables students to access health services from the institutional health center with just a digital code.
○ Created the Computer Based Test Application that allows for computer-based examinations and digital marking and scoring of results
○ Online payment processing system that facilitates the online collection of payment and promoted a cashless institution
○ E-surveillance that controlled crime and other vices through a digital facial recognition system. These systems capture activities through CCTV cameras and map people's faces to their identity
● Worked as a Technical and Solutions architect as well as a hands-on technical engineering manager of a team of engineers in the institution and the creation and implementation of IT team, IT policies, and objectives to drive the institution's information technology activities
● Plan, coordinate, and oversee the technical and engineering activities of the institution; I perform system design, code reviews, technical oversight, mentoring, and coaching. I get hands-on when necessary.
● Grew the engineering team from three (3) to 20 engineers and also established several IT hubs across the institution. I also drove revenue by 2000% in the institution.
