  • .Doing daily routine duties, guides, assigns and supervises loaders.
  • .Update stock cards whenever there is movement in and out.
  • .Check daily that all bin cards are positioned correctly with the commodity to which they belong.

  • .Inspection of incoming containers. All incoming containers were to be checked thoroughly and this is done to ensure that all containers are in good condition and free from damages such as dents, holes, rust patches.
  • .Ensure proper stacking of containers. All containers are to be stacked according to their respective sizes and feet i.e. 20 feet, 40 feet and 45 feet. Other types of containers were to be stacked onto similar containers i.e. tankers, open tops, reefers.
  • .Data entry into all the relevant data bases. I.e. incoming and outgoing imports and exports.
  • .Filing documents. I was assigned the duty of filing all the relevant documents such as loading orders, offloading orders. This was aimed at keeping them for future reference as well as writing both monthly and weekly reports.
  • .Controlling traffic in the yard. This was aimed at making yard operations easy as vehicles could move in and out freely.
  • .Receiving loading and offloading orders. These are receipts that have loading and off-loading orders.

  • .Vehicle inspection. I was assigned the duty of inspecting all the new vehicles that were being brought into the motor vehicle bond. .This action is under taken to ascertain that all the relevant features are either present or missing. I.e. wind screens, side mirrors, wipers, spare tyres etc.
  • .Writing of the vehicle inspection report.
  • .Receiving transit documents for validation and manifest.
  • .Data entry into all the relevant data bases.
  • .Signing vehicle release orders and gate passes for all vehicles that had completed all the relevant formalities with the company and URA especially form the motor vehicle bond as well as others from the yard.
