"Mwende is currently Program Head (Assistant Country Program Director), CARE International, Kenya Program. She was previously program head for livelihoods at CARE and made a significant contribution in the development and shaping of the adopted results framework for the livelihoods program, This integrated well with the then Financal Inclusion and the Women Economic Empowerment units at the time, which helped achieve formidable impact across counties in Kenya, particularly in the ASAL region, the emergency and relief unit that focused on refugees and vulnerable communities. Mwende continues to be a reference in crafting and developing programs and innovations that positively transform women and youth in vulnerable settings, such as the informal settlements and ASAL counties / regions in Kenya and Sub Sahara Africa.
