  • Monitoring and evaluation officer at CARE Kenya attached to the CDC (PEPFAR) funded Chagua Maisha program supporting provision of high-quality prevention, care and treatment services for TB & HIV patients at health facilities and the community at large in Kisii county. My roles include:
  • 1.Working closely with the Program team and the ministry of health personnel to review health facility records.
  • 2.Collect and analyze data on Maternal and child health at the Antenatal clinics (ANC), maternity and post-natal clinics to monitor health of mothers and children to support Prevention of mother to Child HIV Transmission (PMTCT) services in health facilities.
  • 3.Conducting maternal and neonatal mortality audits in health facilities on a quarterly basis.
  • 4.Support community units to conduct health education and referral of pregnant women to health facilities to seek ANC services and report on the same through the Community Health Information System (CHIS).

  • CARE International in Kenya was the Principal Recipient (PR) for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Private Sector (Non-Government) component of the Global Fund Round 7 grant on HIV and AIDS alongside the Ministry of Finance, which handled the Public-Sector component of this performance- based grant.
  • My roles as Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for Global Fund Round 7 included:
  • 1.Operationalization of the global fund Monitoring and evaluation system at Principal Recipient level as well as provide technical support and build capacity of implementing partners.
  • 2.Qualitative and quantitative analysis of program results at output and outcome level and generate periodic (Monthly, Quarterly and semi-annual) reports of the same.
  • 3. Data management support to the program while ensuring that data is of highest quality and there is evidence of adequate support documentation.
  • 4.Knowledge management through review and documentation of lessons learnt, best practices, promising practices, case studies and human-interest stories.
  • 5.Capacity building for partners through training them on M&E skills to improve their technical expertise based on capacity gap analysis.
  • 6.Provide an oversight role for a portfolio of 54 implementing partner organizations (sub recipients) in the implementation of Global Fund Round 7 program.
  • 7.Budget tracking: This entails continuous tracking of how implementing partners spent and reported on their M&E budget and advising them well in advance to avert budget overruns and ensure efficiency gains.

  • 9.Planning and conducting field verification and support visits to implementing partners in rural areas, urban areas, arid areas and semi-arid areas.
