Jimmy Kitiro is a photojournalist and videographer at The Elephant, an independent online news publication in Kenya. He has been with the publication since January 2015. Kitiro is a self-taught photographer and videographer. He began his career in media as a radio reporter in 2013. He later switched to photography and videography, and has worked for various media outlets in Kenya, including the Daily Nation and Standard Media Group. Kitiro's work focuses on social and political issues in Kenya. He has covered a wide range of topics, including elections, protests, and human rights abuses. His work has been featured in international publications such as The New York Times, The Guardian, and BBC News. In 2023, Kitiro was a finalist in the Kenya National Photography Competition in the photojournalism category. Kitiro is a passionate advocate for press freedom and the right to freedom of expression. He is also a mentor to young journalists and photographers.
