    There may be good reasons not to take the job, such as your children's situation in school and with friends, your spouse's feelings, your closeness to... relatives. And all of this is held up to comparison with a job that pays only slightly more and provides some pension, though you don't say how much. So it's not an open and shut case.

    Statistically, for what it's worth, people who are willing to move to pursue better opportunities do better economically in life, they climb faster on the income ladder. Ladder. On the other hand, they can leave damage behind, such as instability for their children and their children's education.

    All of these should need to be weighed in the decision. Ultimately, unless there's something that stands out as a real deal maker or deal-breaker, it's a gamble, and you and your wife have to decide if you're willing to take the bet.
