  • Any tips for facing what I believe to be age discrimination? I am over 60. I've had 3 interviews, none of the intervewsees were over 35 (max), and I heard nothing after the interview, despite being...

All hiring is discriminatory. They NEED to discriminate between the suitable and the unsuitable, and then from the suitable, the ones that they... assess would perform well from those who wouldn't "fit" so well, and so often (especially with cronyism, nepotism, or vibe-ism) they are massively wrong but it keeps happening because patriarchy. Unfortunately for marginalized candidates, "they" tend to relate best in an interview to candidates who look like them, making the performance data a self fulfilling prophecy. I have an anecdote about equally qualified male & female (same age)who were hired at the same time. The male received water cooler mentoring, drinks with the boys, etc. etc. The female got none of that. Unsurprisingly, given zero support, she failed. See? Women can't handle this job. There's not much you can do about it. A 30 something male manager will never say, "I didn't hire so & so because they don't look like me."  more
