Hi everyone! I’ve been sending out a ton of resumes, but haven’t had any luck so far. Any tips on how to stand out and actually get noticed? I feel like I’ve followed all the advice online, but I’m still not getting called for interviews. I’m an economist by training.
Thanks in advance!

  • I completely understand how discouraging that can feel, sending out resume after resume and not hearing back can be exhausting, especially when you’ve... already done your research and followed all the “standard” advice.

At this stage, it’s less about how many resumes you send and more about how targeted and tailored each one is. For economists, employers often look for evidence of impact, analysis, and policy insight, so making those stand out can really help.

If you’d like, feel free to message me, we can discuss your current approach together and see what might be holding things back. Once I have a better sense of your goals, I can help you figure out the next steps and connect you with the right support if needed.

Keep going, sometimes it just takes a few strategic adjustments to start seeing real results.

At this point, it’s clear to every professional that the issue isn’t about individual performance or a lack of understanding of how to... apply effectively. • Are you using the same resume for every job or are you tailoring it for each job submission? Are you giving too much job history (assuming you might... have 10+ years). Typically, try to keep job history to 3-4 jobs, but not more that 10 years; unless you had 2 or less jobs that spanned that length of time. Also, remove any dates from education (helps avoid ageism). These can be some possibilities. more
