THE PURPOSE

The Cash and Markets Specialist in Maiduguri (MIU) leads the sub delegation’s Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) activities, spearheading innovations, and the use of technology in delivering humanitarian assistance. Based in MIU, the Cash and Market Specialist is the primary point of contact for all CVA interventions, including but not limited to Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA), Cash for Livelihoods (CFL), Cash for Work (CFW), Cash for livestock, Cash for Agro inputs, Vocational Training, and cash for sectoral outcomes like Protection and Nutrition. Additionally, s/he is responsible for market analysis and monitoring within the EcoSec Unit, ensuring adherence to SOPs and best practices.

YOUR ROLE


Implements, monitors, and reports on assigned cash-based activities being implemented in MIU AoR
Contributes to the development of guidance and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various CVA modalities and transfer mechanisms, and conduct orientation and training for field teams on these SOPs.
Manage and lead market assessments, price monitoring, post-distribution monitoring, and other necessary assessments in collaboration with Economic Security (ECOSEC) field teams and under supervisor guidance.
Review and provide feedback on post-distribution monitoring, situation and assessment reports, executive briefs, project proposals, and beneficiary data from field sites.
Coaching field teams on Red Rose or any other technical solution adopted by EcoSec.
Assess Financial Service Providers (FSP) with Cash Log and Finance and Admin (FAD) as needed, following ICRC tools and procedures.
Conduct short-term assignments to support sub-delegations needing guidance, including multidisciplinary assessments, cash feasibility studies, and expertise sharing in cash-transfer assistance and market assessments.
Liaise closely with, Health, Protection and Networking metiers for assistance referrals and Accountability to Affected People (AAP) colleagues for community feedback and complaint responses.
Provide capacity building through training and on-the-job support to EcoSec, other ICRC, and Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) colleagues or focal points in sub-delegations as needed.


YOUR PROFILE: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE


University Degree in Economics, Business Management, or related field
At least 2 to 4 years’ experience of implementing cash-based assistance.
Very good knowledge of written and spoken English, and Hausa Language (spoken).
Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
Adaptable, multitasker and good in time management
Demonstrated capacity for high level representational work and record of excellent teamwork.
Highly proficient with Excel, word and PPT, desirable to have analytical skills of using statistical software like, Red Rose, etc.
Proficient in report writing and documentation.
