Duties/Pligte        


Installing, daily maintenance and monitoring of Linux computer systems and servers.
Benchmarking and testing Artificial Intelligence-based applications for scholarly communication and research support systems.
Setting the standards for the implementation, administration, improvement, maintenance and documentation of Linux application services in the library in collaboration with the campus Linux support community.
Designing, implementing, testing and documenting new Linux-based computer systems and overseeing their integration with other campus technologies in support of the business processes of Stellenbosch University.
Advising and assisting the Director: Information Technology Services on server and storage infrastructure management.


Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        


National senior certificate with eight years' relevant experience,
OR an information technology or computer Science B-degree/national diploma with three years' relevant experience, OR a relevant IT certificate with six years relevant experience.
Proven experience in the systems administration of Linux systems.
Working level knowledge of R, Python or related data science tools.
Detailed knowledge of cybersecurity practices to protect systems from digital attacks.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems innovatively.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team (within a Linux community of practice), as well as independently.
Sound verbal and written communication skills.


Recommendation/Aanbeveling        


Experience in creating and debugging Linux scripts.
