The Accounts Officer is responsible for providing financial, administrative services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial operations. She/he must comply with established accounting policies and procedures.  An account officer is responsible to look after the financial part of a firm or a particular company. He is also given the responsibility of financial planning and record keeping of account.


The main purpose of an account officer is to analyse financial activities
Collect invoices/bills and make payments ensuring the prevailing financial rules and regulations of Practical Action
Prepare bank drafts and arrange for fund transfers against the payment of instalments to partners and other service providers as necessary
Calculate tax and other deductions to deduct from source while making payment
Process the travel and other expenditure claims complying the policies and procedures
Make salary payment on time and provide salary transfer notice staff members
Handle petty cash
Enter financial data into computerized accounting system and run reports
Provide accounting services to the concerned, especially the status of budget and expenditure
Keep Practical and informed of changes to accounting system/ structure/ procedures through training/presentation
Keep financial documents and records to meet the Group and subsidiaries requirements
Keep liaison with the bank and other government institutions in Finance functions
Maintain filing of Finance area
Undertake any other duties as directed by the Group Accountant and CFO
