Hi! I work in an all-women team and no one has a car. My husband picks me up every day and my coworkers often ask for a ride too. They got used to it and if I say no, they get upset. But I’m tired of driving everyone home. How can I stop this without arguments? Thanks

Say No. Let them be mad. Its not your responsibility to transport them to or from their jobs. What did they do prior to you working there? Do they... even offer to pay? If not, they are truly taking advantage.

  • ask them 4 a contribution of Your husbands fluells 'cose he has to ride them all and you are not a taxy !

  • Ask them for gas money. A $1 per day sounds reasonable.

  • The 'wonan' on this thread either suggests lying or charging. The 'men' suggest saying no and deal with it. I suggest saying NO, it's simple. You no... longer want to. Easy. Feel good about taking up for yourself.  more

  • You have many good suggestions already. It is always easier to give than to take back.
Anyway, you can be honest and tell them you are getting tired... of dropping them at their homes, with no reciprocity at all and from the following week, any rides will be upto your house. They can make arrangements for the rest of the commute.
Some will drop out, others may gripe but they will see reason after a while. Keep this lesson in mind for the future.

  • You've created an expectation with your colleagues, NOW you have a choice. Either simply stop making this option available and deal with the fallout.... OR formalise the arrangement by offering a ride share option, which they pay for. Whichever option makes sense to you, be sure to have the conversation with both your husband and your colleagues. Either way, understand that both options have advantages and disadvantages. You need to be honest with yourself, your husband, and your colleagues about this. It's not going to simply resolve itself. It might even be worth all of you discussing this together and presenting this as an issue requiring a solution. People will surprise you when they think they are contributing to a solution. more

  • Explain to them that while you would love to offer a ride home you can no longer do it because it takes about from obligations that you need to... attend to right after work. This isn't a lie because your obligation os your families needs more

  • You needn't be kind,do they buy fuel. When leaving, walk out alone and get your husband in unusual places

    2
  • You risk problems with your hubby one time and less more, if you ever experience a closeness of any of them with your hubby out of the free transport

  • I will give them notice. I will not be sharing a ride from next week on Monday. Period!

  • My kind opinion, let your husband stop picking your for a while. When they question you tell them the car broke down or something.
Pick public... transport for the time being. Thank you more

  • Start charging them. If they need to pay…they will not be so eager to ask for a ride. Gas is expensive, now! By the way, how do they get to work, in... the first place? more

  • You can start a team cash pool savings account to get another car that can be shared amongst the other team members so you can extricate yours from... being the sole one. Have each member contribute to the car fund every paycheck and within the selected amount of time those teammates can go get a car together. Gets you out of being the only one with a car and being leaned on for it. That way the responsibility is on them, and the account will reflect who has contributed what to avoid any money issues later on. Give them a designated time frame in which to save the money and let them know that as of that date their use of your car ends. Lay out boundaries and be firm with them and stick to that timeline. The details can be collaborated on and agreed upon with the entire team.  more
