About the role
Under the management of the PEARL Unit Manager, the Senior Research Officer will support FACT’s PEARL-related programme activities. The Senior Research Officer will be responsible for the management and implementation of a PEARL Research, Assessment or Monitoring workstreams. S/he will be responsible for oversight of a research cycle, from design to output production.
Responsibilities
Responsible for managing PEARL programme Research, Assessment or Monitoring workstreams, ensuring delivery of high-quality products that meets the needs of the communities we serve. Key responsibilities:
Management of research processes

Designing the methodology and tools associated with each assessment, according to FACT requirements and principles. 
Manage the planning, implementation, and follow-up of PEARL and project-specific research activities conducted.

Research Implementation

Implement research projects, and provide support to the development of new research, database and GIS tools with other PEARL team members. 
Lead design of data collection tools (household surveys, focus groups, and more) 
Development or review of databases; contributing to GIS data collection procedures; and analysis of information to contribute to reports.

Data Collection and Analysis

Ensure that all collected data is stored in line with FACT’s Data Management Guidelines, and with the ToRs
Facilitate data cleaning and analysis automation process for ongoing and long-term projects/assessments.
Providing technical guidelines and capacity-building support to the team on the automated systems and workflows, ensuring that data is revised and cleaned and that all revisions are recorded. 
Ensure the drafting of timely and accurate products, which comply with FACT’s guidelines 
Review all products before they are sent for validation and ensure that all data & GIS products are validated before external release.
Provide technical support to the Unit Manager and SMT in terms of the preparation of new project proposals, development of programme strategies, implementation of project activities, and any other required reporting mechanisms. 
The SRO is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of narrative and financial reports related to FACT activities  through close liaison with the Project Development and Finance departments

Research reporting

Consolidate analysis and conclusions from assessment into FACT products such as factsheets, reports and briefs etc. 
Follow the designated timeline of reports to be submitted to project partners and donors. Ensure the writing of timely assessment reports and factsheets, ensuring the quality and accuracy of technical information provided as well as the confidentiality of collected information. 
Store, organise, and disseminate assessments, project documents, and best practices among partners.

Internal management

Ensure that field teams are comprehensively briefed on the objective, expected outputs and that the overall implementation strategy of any given activity is clearly understood. 
Ensure that project/field staff are given training and complete all the necessary documentation in line with program requirements. 
Capacity building and staff development of Enumerators, Interns, Field Officers and Junior Research Officers.
Provide technical support to the Unit Manager and SMT in terms of the preparation of new project proposals, development of programme strategies, implementation of project activities, and any other required reporting mechanisms. 
Support timely and accurate preparation of narrative and financial reports related to project activities through close liaison with the Unit Manager and Finance departments.

Internal management

Representation FACT in cluster and multi-sector meetings/technical working groups in Nigeria, and follow up on technical issues identified in meetings. 
Laisse with external partners to identify the potential for data sets to be integrated into existing databases and mapped to support the coordination of the broader humanitarian community. 
Further represent FACT vis-a-vis current and potential donors and communicate relevant information to the Unit Manager and SMT. 
Participate in inter-NGO meetings and those of UN agencies and any other relevant intergovernmental institutions at the national or state level.

Requirement

5 years of proven experience working in NGO, Academia or Software companies within the research, monitoring and evaluation, or a similar function
Excellent academic qualifications, in a relevant discipline (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer science, Political Science, Social Research, Economics, Development Studies, or similar)
Excellent communication and drafting skills required for effective report writing 
Knowledge of data collection and analysis tools like Kobo, Nvivo, R, SPSS, Power BI etc
Good communication skills
Comfortable multi-tasking and supporting multiple products
Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office desktop applications, inclusive Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Google suite Apps.
