I honestly feel like I’m losing interest in life. I completed my undergraduate degree in Economics and had dreams of studying abroad. I was fortunate enough to receive admissions from universities, but I couldn’t go because I simply didn’t have the money. Watching those opportunities slip away has been heartbreaking.

I come from a rural area, and it’s been incredibly difficult to find a decent job. I even worked digging abula just to survive, but I ended up with skin rashes and other health problems because of the work.

I’m the firstborn in my family, so the pressure is overwhelming. I feel like I’m expected to have all the answers, but I don’t even know what to do anymore.

I’m mentally and physically exhausted. I feel stuck, and I don’t know how to move forward. If anyone has been through something similar or is in a position to help in any way…whether with advice, opportunities, or guidance.I would truly appreciate it. I’m just tired of life and hoping things can somehow get better.

  • First of all, get a grip! You have a lot to offer out here so when I hear you losing interest in life it seems like you are considering taking your... life which is insane! It's easy for anyone to say things will get better, pray to God ect ect ect, but you have to come to grips that life will throw you peaks and valleys. You my friend are currently in a valley that you must climb out of. This may sound crazy to you, but have you considered looking at the Military? All the branches need someone with an Economics background. You could even go in as a officer. The Reserves could be the best option. Now if the Military is not your thing, you must be open to taking an opportunity outside your rural area; even to another state. There is a big push for vocational jobs. There are companies that will bing you in and train you for free . Try your local unemployment office. if your passion is Economics, talk to a military recruiter and see what king of options they can provide. Good Luck!  more

  • Praise the Lord Brother/Sister out there who has hit the dead end and faced challenges of different sorts.
    1. Stop negative confessions.
    Proverbs... 18:21
[21]Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life]. [Matt. 12:37.]
    2. Encourage yourself in the Lord.
    1 Samuel 30:6
[6]David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him because the souls of them all were bitterly grieved, each man for his sons and daughters. But David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God. God is all we need, He has good plans for us , plans to prosper and not to harm us plans to give us future and hope. Jer. 29:11.
    3. James 1:2-4
[2]Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations.
[3]Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience.
    Simply obey and be humble.

  • First, thank you for opening up. It takes courage to admit when you're struggling.

From what you've shared, I don't think you've lost your... potential—you've simply encountered circumstances that have delayed your dreams. The fact that you earned admission to study abroad speaks volumes about your ability. Don't let financial limitations convince you that your future has ended.

Being the firstborn comes with immense pressure, but remember that you don't have to solve every problem at once. Take one step at a time. Continue applying for opportunities, scholarships, and jobs, and don't hesitate to reach out to former lecturers, mentors, and professional networks. Many breakthroughs come through persistence and the right connections.

Most importantly, when you say you're "tired of life," please don't keep those feelings to yourself. Talk to someone you trust—a family member, close friend, pastor, mentor, or counsellor. Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
