I’m currently working with a restaurant that provides catering services for a company, where I serve as the Supervisor, Inventory Manager, and Safety Coordinator. Recently, I received a job offer from an insurance company with a better salary and improved career prospects. I would like to seek advice on whether I should accept the offer and how best to handle my current position professionally.

    Congratulations on the offer!
A better salary and stronger career prospects are certainly worth serious consideration. I’d look beyond compensation... and compare the long-term growth potential, stability, benefits, work environment, and how well the new position aligns with your career goals.

If you decide the insurance opportunity is the right move, I’d handle your current position with professionalism and gratitude.
Give appropriate notice, thank your employer for the opportunities you’ve had, and do everything possible to make the transition smooth—especially since you currently hold several important responsibilities.

You can be grateful for where you are while still recognizing when it’s time to move forward.

  • Make sure you understand what you're going into before making that decision. Insurance companies tend to sell people on glitter and gold and sometimes... the writing is in very small font what it actually means to have that glitter and gold. If you have friends or someone you trust who works at the Insurance company, that's great! Do a little homework on the work culture before making a decision. I believe Insurance companies are awesome companies for the right type of person.  more

  • The best advice you’ll get probably won’t tell you what you should, you’re gonna have to make a difficult decision. Take your time and don’t rush... making up your mind. Clive careful consideration to what you want and what you expect. Also, consider this a good time to speak your employer about what you want from them, start a dialogue. See what happens.  more
