Duties/Pligte        


Strategic planning and management of the Research Commons and postgraduate support services.
General human resources management.
Providing support for reference management, data analysis, and virtual meeting software and tools.
Managing, coordinating and presenting research support workshops.
Responsible for the maintenance and administration of the Research Commons spaces.
Initiating and contributing to projects, committees, and other relevant forums as required.
Continuous liaising with other research support divisions and entities at Stellenbosch University (SU) and beyond.


Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        


Bachelors' degree in library and information science, or an equivalent qualification.
At least five years' relevant experience in an academic, research library, or similar environment.
Understanding of the research lifecycle.
Knowledge of and experience in the use of new technologies in the research environment, use of research-related applications and digital tools.
In-depth knowledge of and experience in reference management and software programmes such as EndNote and Zotero.
Understanding of scholarly communication processes and publication models.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good training and presentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal relations.
Excellent administrative skills.


Recommendation/Aanbeveling        


Middle management experience in an academic or research library.
A postgraduate qualification is a strong recommendation.
Knowledge of changing trends and best practices regarding research support in academic libraries.
