EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS ADVANCED Ill (JOB GROUP 11 (‘H’) - (28 POSTS)

The primary focus at this cadre is to provide advanced emergency medical care using advanced equioment and procedure to service users. This individual must possess advanced knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation for critical, emergent, urgent and non-emergency patients who access the Emergency Medical System.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working in an intermediate Life Support Unit as an emergency care provider or in an ambulance;
Maintaining the patients’ care reports while on transit;
Assessing patients and establishing their emergency medical care needs:
Planning and implementing care interventions;
Administration of authorized medication;
Initiating basic intravenous therapies, providing autonomous Basic Life Support interventions and supervised Advanced Cardiac Life Support interventions;
Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment and ensuring safe custody of patients’ belongings:
Maintaining and evaluating healthcare oufcomes on patients and preparing individualized reports;
Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT

A Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Emergency Medical Services,
Emergency Medical Technology, or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized training institution;
Registration by the Kenya Council of Emergency Medical Technicians;
Have at least 3 years relevant working experience:
Demonstrate a thorough understanding and commitment to values and principles as outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution;
Ability to work in a mulii-ethnic environment and sensifivity and respect for diversity;
Must have good inter-personal and communication skills;
Proficiency in computer applications; and
Satisfy the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
