Lending Specialist: Investment Backed Lending (Lombard Lending)


The lending specialist role is a role that includes the origination function and servicing of existing Investment Backed Loans (IBL). The product is a margin loan that is secured by various investments such as a stock portfolio, cash balances, unit trusts etc.
Role Description:
Significantly contribute to existing book servicing by engaging with front line staff members (Portfolio Managers and Financial Advisors) on matters pertaining to new and existing loans
Significantly contribute to LTV monitoring and ensure that appropriate margin call processes are executed as per policy framework
Support the credit function on matters of loan origination,  loan renewals and loan settlements
Support the flow of operational processes required to service the IBL product
Liaise with stakeholders on secured lending matters
Assist the credit function with periodic audits


Personal Effectiveness 


Delivers results through proactive management of IBL stakeholders on matters of loan origination, LTV monitoring, margin call engagement with credit and portfolio managers    
Works at a team level, and is accountable for service delivery within a function/team and process
Contribute where possible to the development of processes pertaining to origination, servicing and LTV monitoring
Provide an excellent customer experience and supporting the achievement of service level agreements
Demonstrate a general understanding of legislation governing the IBL product such as the National Credit Act
Support the Market Risk function by demonstrating a keen interest to expand knowledge in Financial Markets, Financial Instruments and the world economy.
Manage risk by following due process in the processing of IBL applications


Requirements


Understand and embrace the Old Mutual vision and demonstrate its values
3-year degree Finance, Accounting, Economics, Actuarial Science etc.
Ability to work without supervision
Ability to communicate with stakeholders in other areas of the business
At least 1 year of Lending or other relevant experience in any financial role
Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Exposure to Loan Management Systems will be advantageous.
Working with Securities based (Lombard) lending products will be advantageous.
