ASSISTANT ANIMAL HEALTH OFFICER III, JOB GROUP 11 —(‘H’) - (30 POSTS) (MEAT INSPECTORS)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This will be the entry grade into this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a more experienced officer.
Carrying out simple treatment of animals; participating in disease search and reporting; demonstration of milking techniques
Demonstration of external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting.
Carrying out vaccination and undertaking closed castration, dehorning, deworming, disbudding, docking, de-breaking and hoof trimming,
Carrying out ante and post mortem inspection in slaughterhouses,
Oversee disposal of condemned carcasses and parts, oversee marking and labelling of milk containers, Recommend licensing of slaughterhouses and meat containers
Issuing of certificate of transport to facilitate transport of meat, keeping daily records of slaughter and condemnation.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT

A Diploma in any of the following disciplines: - Animal Health, Animal Health and Production, Veterinary Public Health and Meat Technology, Animal Production and Health Management or Animal Husbandry from a recognized institution.
Beregistered by the Kenya Veterinary Board and
Acertificate in computer applications from a recognized institution
Have a Certificate in Meat Inspection.
