Hi everyone,

I'm posting anonymously because I'm feeling quite lost and hoping someone here might be able to help.

I've been searching for an architectural or interior design role in the UK for almost 2 years. Despite having a Master's degree in Architecture, the only UK experience I've managed to get has been through an unpaid internship and unpaid work experience.

During this time, I've tried everything I can think of to improve my chances. I've taken online courses to strengthen my skills, attended networking events, reached out to professionals, and sent hundreds of job applications and cold emails. Unfortunately, most go unanswered, and when I do receive a response, it's usually to say they're not hiring.

My real passion is interior design, and I have a strong portfolio showcasing residential, commercial, and conceptual projects. I'm hardworking, eager to learn, and genuinely passionate about design. At this stage, I'm not looking for the perfect job , I just need someone to give me an opportunity to prove myself.

If you know of any architects, interior designers, studios, or companies anywhere in the UK that might be looking for a junior designer, Part 2 Architectural Assistant, interior designer, intern, freelancer, or someone to support their team, I would be incredibly grateful if you could point me in the right direction or introduce me.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If you know anyone who could help, please let me know. It would honestly mean more than I can say.

  • I'm sorry to hear about your current situation, but instead of Searching randomly, you could tailor your search and also work with a professional on... your job hunting, that way it will be easier and faster than you roaming around, if you are open to working with a professional. Let me know and I'll be happy to point in the right direction  more

  • I feel and understand your situation. I took a finance major in undergraduate and now got a masters in Data Analytics. I've been looking for jobs in... the UK for 2yrs+. Nothing's coming my way. I have to live and do other casual jobs. However, I feel you need to keep going for it, good things come to those who waits. As you wait, keep going to socials, visit contracting firms in person, arrange meetings with their hiring teams and this may work out. Someone advised me to do so. This coming week, I'm going to Aston Martin after one of their employees told me he's arranged meeting with the finance team.  more
