I'm finishing university soon and am already trying to find a job in my field. But everywhere, they require candidates with 2-3 years of work experience. Where am I supposed to get it?

  • So you mean interning and volunteering are experiences, so then it's important to volunteer after school

  • That's where we are now experience no job but also this way you must have a God father with bribe

  • My dear, National Service is still a requirement, so try the internship and volunteerism opportunities now. Hopefully by the time you finish your... National Service you would have achieved the required years. more

  • Since you are still in school consider volunteering and gain at least a year of experience before you are finally ready to go full time that way you... can list the volunteer years  more

  • School, tell them you already have experience and the paper supports that

  • Looking for employment may not be your best option since your next problem will be am 'underpaid'. Weigh your options and skills now by landing... yourself a business 'niche' that your current skills can exploit alone or not alone. As the saying goes 'You eat more fish when you fish than when you buy fish'. Right now start fishing from internet or other online.  more

  • Gabriela, most of the time when people are putting their job requirement lists together they're painting a picture of the most ideal candidate - but... they have to hire a REAL person. If you match the rest of the requirements (or think that you could match them with some training - women in particular tend to avoid applying for jobs where they don't meet 100% of the requirements, whereas men tend to view job postings as a list of nice to haves and assess whether they have the aptitude to gain any missing skills) apply anyways. You can be transparent about being a new grad, and take the rest of the advice listed here too about including any pertinent internship etc experience, but also in your cover letter you can say that you believe your education gives you a leg up. Applying for jobs is a numbers game - you'll get a lot of rejection before you find the right fit, but keep trying !! more

  • How long do you still have left on campus? You can start connecting or attending related events and doing intentional networking. Otherwise, be open... to volunteering and internship opportunities for you to get started more

  • Hello, there are a few things you can do. You can look at things you may have done that are in the field of study to list as experience, like: civic... engagement, volunteerism, internship(s), any clubs you may have been in at school, etc. You can look at the Department of Labor that have partnerships with different industries that offer apprenticeships. Around this season, public and private industries offer internships for the summer, and many people end up with permanent positions after the internship. • Sorry to hear that Gabriela. I understand your frustration. What field of study do you occupy?
