Absolutely, there is hope. Running your own business for 10+ years isn’t a gap in your career—it represents years of experience... in leadership, problem-solving, client relationships, organization, and accountability, especially when combined with your background in events and fundraising.

At 64, I’d focus less on explaining your age or time away from traditional employment and more on clearly communicating the experience and value you can bring to an organization today.
It may take persistence and the right employer, but experience, reliability, and proven skills still have tremendous value.

Don’t sell yourself short. Sometimes the challenge isn’t whether you have something to offer—it’s finding the organization smart enough to recognize it.
