I left my job after my wife brought up a series of issues thinking that i has an office wife, I am not sure i made the right choice, I just did not want my marriage broken and now i cant secure a job for myself.

I don't quite know how to put this, and I don't want my comment to come across as insensitive or dismissive. I'm simply sharing my perspective based... on my own experiences.

Personally, I think leaving your job to prove to your wife that you don't have an "office wife" is a red flag. Trust is built through honesty, consistency, and communication—not by making major sacrifices to satisfy accusations.

One thing we all need to understand is that we cannot control how someone chooses to think about us. Even if you leave your job today, there is no guarantee that another accusation won't arise in the future. If that happens, what will you sacrifice next?

I've also seen situations where men distance themselves from family and close friends to prove their loyalty to a partner, only to find themselves isolated when the relationship later faces serious challenges. The very people they pushed away often become the ones who are willing to support and understand them.

  • Without any alternative employment leaving the safe job is not a sensible decision

  • sorry, the answer got cut off.
We do not know if there was any truth in the accusation. If you quit, there will always be suspicion. If the rumors... were false, you needed to stay and rebut them. If they are true, you better come up with a good story why you left the job. The rift between you and your wife may persist a long time. Consider family counseling. Good luck. more

  • This sounds like half a story to me. Why is your wife so suspicious, and why would such suspicion cause you to take such a drastic measure? Did you... have an affair before? My guess is that this might be the missing part of the story. more

  • That was wrong of you and her,People talk and think of aftermath.Accusing you doesnt give in alegal right to leave your job.She has all the right as a... human being to think of you cheating depending on prevailing or circumstation evidence. But you also have the duty and resposibility to prove otherwise. Beyond you we have marriage councellors and the like.
Leaving your job was shooting yourself in the foot. Thats not the way of buiding trust, no

  • 1: never leave a job without having another one lined up. 2: See a marriage counselor. There is a lack of trust, maturity or something going on.

  • Having a work (wife) spouse is not the same as having an affair! So which was it?
To leave a position based on accusations from home sounds ... immature. And what happens when she makes the same accusations at your next job? Before you take another position, have an honest conversation with your wife. If her accusations are justified, Do Better. Explain how the accusations created a problem in your work life balance. Which resulted in negatively affecting the family's financial health. Did you leave the last job on good terms? Can you return? Or did you tell everyone why you were leaving? The latter would make it hard to get good references. You should both work on the plan forward. more

  • Why are men nowadays ready to ruin themselves just to please women?

  • Really? You actually left your job over accusations? I'm honestly wondering who makes such a life-changing decision without first exhausting every... other option. I understand you wanted to protect your marriage, but resigning from your job seems like it gave the accusations more power than they deserved.

My concern is this: never allow accusations—especially those that haven't been proven—to take centre stage in your life or dictate major decisions. They should be addressed through honest conversations, trust, and, where necessary, counselling, not by sacrificing your career.

What's done is done, though. Rather than beating yourself up, focus on rebuilding your career while also strengthening your marriage. I sincerely hope another opportunity comes your way soon.

  • That was a bad decision, few women will stand jobless men and I am very sure your wife is not one of them, the accusation is already a sign of broken... trust. Leaving the job already signals your guilt. So get a job or she kicks you out for being lazy. more

  • Now sit back and watch her leave you, the reason being you're broke and don't provide.
Society's downfall began the minute we started listening to... women. Yet even women themselves don't know what they want. But they'll never take accountability, while blaming you for everything.
So next time, before listening to a woman, remember this.
