Ask me anything about Mental Health, Trauma, Anxiety, depression and well being.

  • Wasilah! Thanks for your question mate.
I'll tell you straight, firstly someone who's mostly miserable, uninterested and demotivated in the work. If... they're volatile - showing emotional dysregulation- ie getting angry or irritable or upset at something less than warranted - ie
"Hey Jared! Second time you're late this week, everything ok?"
"STOP SHOUTING AT ME YOU BULLY!!!" [runs off to the toilets wailing]
Often a person's sleep goes to hell, while depressed - so check for black rings, sleeping on the job etc.
This is linked to no energy, sluggishness, and being foggy minded - ie can't focus.
Some clients report they literally can't read anymore while like this.
This person is very likely to withdraw from any social meetups, partially due to anxiety, feeling useless and wanting to hide these symptoms.
Finally, check for over eating/under eating, boozing/drugs [escapism].

    Hope that brain dump helps!

  • Hi Alan,
I appreciate that you don't sugarcoat. What are the possible signs a person could have when depressed with work?...
