I’ve been working at a karaoke bar for a couple of weeks, and honestly, drunk people are driving me nuts. They can’t sing or carry a tune, but they still scream through songs and ruin them. Every day it’s getting worse. Do you think I’ll ever get used to it, or should I just quit and find something else?

Jimmie! Your job is to help them have a great time, not seat through headline shows every night you work. Instead of listening to their attempts in... singing, look at their reaction to actually working though issues, bad memories, recent & past losses, prior glory, good ols days, sad times, miltary service, and the leist goes on.

Listen to the joy as well as the pain at each patron performers song. Its much more that just karaoke. You impact lives, much like the comic, the bartender, the dance instructor and the entertainer. thats the business.

I have spents 20 years in entertainment, and even in some of the worst situations, I found joy in just watching and learning how much these business help the population.

  • Firstly, Find out why you work at a karaoke bar and then take to the internet to complain about your karaoke patrons singing. You’re probably a... terrible host. Upskill yourself and get out of the way of fun to those people.  more

  • You should never quit without finding something else first. That being said you could also request a leave of absence and see what they say look for a... job then or learn to put up with the screech owls, sing along with them in your head so you hear your own music. Also do as Mr. Natural suggested and "Be like two fried eggs! Always keep your Sunny Side up! more
