What do you think, should an employer provide a corporate mobile phone with a good camera and zoom if the phone is constantly needed for work to evaluate products?
I’m struggling with my old one, taking photos and sending them to an expert.
But my boss thinks everything is fine.

  • Yes the employer should provide a separate phone if it’s required for work. However, get clear with HR or whomever, what the expectations and... limitations are for you and the employer. The emploshould not have 24 hour access to you, bug you can’t call your college friend in Hong Kong either. As a business owner, I have a Verizon app that pushes office calls to my phone if I don’t answer the call at the office. The arrives at my cell through the app and the person calling doesn’t know their in my personal cell. I can also dial out through the app from my cell and the recipient gets a call that appears too them as my office number. I don’t have to carry two devices. Whatever your solution, get clear about expectations and obligations. more

  • Employer should supply phone, but you will be tied to the phone. So keep work phone on work and your phone private.

  • I would resist accepting a corporate phone simply because there would be an expectation to keep it on. If you own the phone, you have the right to... mute your boss outside of work hours; and sometimes that's a good thing.  more
