JOB FUNCTION:
• The successful candidate will join our team as a Manager for Fixed Assets in the Finance Department. • This individual will report to Financial Controller and will be responsible for monitoring and accounting for all the assets of the company. • The Fixed Assets Manager will be in charge of driving the annual CAR process of the organization to secure resources for the execution of the company’s strategy. • The successful candidate will also ensure sound financial and accounting practices are established to capture all the transactions as and when they occur in the right amounts and format and more importantly ensure compliance with AT accounting / internal control policies and IFRS.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain and monitor controls within the FA team in line with AT internal control and accounting policies as applicable. • Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are always applied in the treatment and handling of all FA issues. • Work with the business to develop business cases as part of the annual CAR process. • Ensure all CARs are submitted to Global BDS on a timely and accurate basis to avoid delays. • Provide on a regular basis, a Capex Tracking Report to facilitate management decision-making process. • Ensure documents are properly filed and archived on a timely basis and in an efficient way in accordance with company policy and statutory requirements. • Develop and maintain a robust asset register detailing updated status of all assets (including leased assets) at any point in time. • Work with the business to develop and execute assets needs, acquisition management, operational and disposal plans to ensure assets are always optimised. • Plan and execute the annual asset verification exercise, investigate and report on variances and make necessary recommendations to management to resolve discrepancies by aligning it to the FAR and General ledger. • Ensure assets are always tagged with unique ID numbers. • Prepare a monthly reconciliation with supporting schedules of the FAR to the relevant general ledgers and resolve discrepancies on a timely basis. • Lead the period end close process from the Fixed Asset Management side, ensuring an accurate and timely reporting of all transactions as well as commentary on all variances . • Support the Financial planning team during budget and forecasting processes. • Ensure adequate processes are established to monitor spares and capital work-in-progress (CWIP) items. • Ensure ageing spares and CWIP items are investigated on timely basis escalated to management to mitigate any future exposures. • Ensure all FA accounting bookings are done on a timely and accurate basis. • Work with Financial Reporting team to ensure all accounting treatment for FA items are always consistent with the Airtel Tigo policy and IFRS. • Drive process improvement by working closely with all stakeholders to evaluate current processes and procedures, recommend new practices, procedures and systems to improve operating efficiencies and internal controls. • Assist in the Company’s annual audit with the external auditors. • Assisting in various departmental projects. • Ensure the team is kept motivated and always engaged and that succession plans exist for all key roles.
Required Qualification and Experience
• A University degree in any field but with emphasis on Accounting, Economics or a Business-related field or discipline. • Professional certification such as ACCA/CA Part qualification would be a plus • A minimum of Five (5)- Eight (8) years relevant work experience (preferably in a multinational setting) in a supervisory role. • People management experience and a proven ability to lead teams and drive change and process improvement
Core Competencies
