I was fired for something I genuinely believe everyone else in the company does regularly. I'm the only one who got caught. Is it worth fighting, or do you just accept that workplaces aren't always fair?
  • You regularly did it knowing it was illegal to do it, in as much as others also do it. Are you that stupid to want to go down with everyone else when... you failed to keep your end of the situation? more

  • You said got caught key word so it’s clear you knew not to do said things , you can’t do what you see everyone else doing and then play victim when... caught move on and learn lesson and be more mindful on next job  more

  • Just accept the verdict and move on, otherwise you fight a losing battle using the meagre resources you have saved. Be forward- looking

  • If you did something 'wrong', it wouldn't seem to help that other people are also doing it. (If you get a speeding ticket, you can't get out of it... because other people are speeding.) More context is needed. more

  • Do you have prove or can you prove that others are doing the same thing? You can file for treated indifferently.

  • The question is did you violate company policy? If yes you don't have a chance... Consider that it is possible that they suspect everyone is doing... what you did but your termination was to send a message to the others... This is to deter the would be offenders.... Consider your termination as collateral damage in this case but trust me you don't have a chance if you appeal the decision or if you seek legal redress. Good luck  more

  • one thing i believe in, i was employed alone so i take my own responsibilities. doing something because everyone else is doing it is wrong. most... especially if it is something against the company policy more

  • It depends on what it was and if you have facts/evidence to support what you "believe" everyone else was doing. If you do have facts, and can prove,... then they may have terminated you for a protected reason and used that as the reason.  more

  • You can allow the situation to serve as a point of ethics. It's not worth fighting. It's a losing battle. You just got caught. You have taken... accountability, so move forward with a lesson learned. more

  • If you think you can win, you should fight. Talk to an employment law attorney who represents employees (not the employer/management) in your... state/area. If you’re going to allege comparative discrimination, you’ll need evidence and you have to connect it to a “protected class” (I’m a man and she’s a woman but got away with it, or my boss favored the other employee because they share the same religion and I don’t). Feel free to email me (rijudas8@gmail.com) or give me a call if you’d like to talk further.  more
