Job objective

As the the head of irrigation and Fertigation you will oversee all aspects of irrigation and fertigation operations, ensuring efficient water and nutrient delivery, proper equipment maintenance, and staff management. This role is critical to optimizing crop yields, maintaining high operational standards, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

Your tasks and responsibilities


Develop and implement comprehensive irrigation schedules to optimize water use and crop health.
Ensure timely execution of daily and weekly irrigation programs by supervising irrigation teams.
Maintain high standards of irrigation by ensuring proper water distribution, preventing water wastage, and using appropriate water volumes.
Plan, implement, and evaluate fertigation schedules to ensure crops receive the necessary nutrients.
Develop and oversee the implementation of maintenance schedules for all irrigation systems and equipment.
Ensure proper usage, timely repairs, and preventive maintenance of irrigation tools and machinery to maximize efficiency and lifespan.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.

Oversee and manage the operation of fertigation systems to ensure accurate nutrient application.
Supervise water treatment processes to ensure the quality of water used in irrigation and fertigation.
Monitor the efficiency and functionality of fertigation and water treatment equipment.
Recruit, train, and manage irrigation and fertigation staff to build a competent and efficient team.
Allocate daily tasks and set performance targets for irrigation team leaders and workers.
Monitor and evaluate staff performance to ensure high productivity and adherence to schedules.
Address welfare needs and ensure a conducive working environment for irrigation and fertigation staff.
Maintain accurate records of irrigation and fertigation schedules, equipment maintenance, and staff performance.
Ensure timely submission of all reports related to irrigation and fertigation activities.
Analyze data to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement.
Promote and enforce health and safety protocols among irrigation and fertigation teams.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and conduct regular risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards.
Provide necessary safety equipment and training to staff to uphold a safe working environment


Your profile


Degree/Diploma in Horticluture, Irrigation Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in irrigation and fertigation management in large-scale farming or horticultural production.
Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, fertigation techniques, and water treatment processes.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
