I’d try to negotiate it to having only come in Tuesday-Thursday. Being with co-workers and being present will help you new skills, more creativity,... and knowing what’s really going in the company. Your time also has value. Remote work frees up time to do other things and not having to commute is a gift and in my opinion, worth more than 35%. I... agree with a previous comment that 35% is not enough of an increase to compensate for all the time you will be losing by having to commute and keep office hours. And how much money does an extra 35% really look like after taxes? Is it enough for you to make any major, meaningful lifestyle upgrades?  more

With all due respect to Mr. Behar, unless you happened to be a WFHer prior to March 2020 this is anything but a question you should even be asking. ... The experience of actually connecting with other human beings is invaluable, and far too many objective studies have proven that teams that actually do work collaboratively in the flesh are far more productive and responsible. If you do happen to have a position that would require you to do little more than sit alone in a cubicle and do busy work, by all means factor that into your decision. But if you do anything creative or involving a team by all means take the money and enjoy the human experience. We deserve you.  more

I would not go into the office for less than 100% raise. That 35% raise may be a loss of income. It costs a $1 a mile to commute. You wil be traveling... in winter snow. You will have highway hypnosis and be sleepy on arriving at work. The sleepy worker is as impaired as the legally drunk worker. If a job does not require hands on, in office work should be justified by proven results. Those are usually missing. Ditch the cost of the building. Distribute the savings as higher wages or profits.  more
