Job Description:

The Operations Manager / Executive Assistant oversees the day-to-day operations of the haulage company, ensuring that logistical, administrative, and operational processes run smoothly. This role involves managing drivers, coordinating fleet maintenance, handling logistics, and providing high-level support to senior management. The Operations Manager / Executive Assistant acts as a bridge between management and operational teams, ensuring efficiency and productivity across all departments.

Key Responsibilities:

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s fleet, including maintenance schedules, driver assignments, fuel usage, and vehicle tracking to ensure operational efficiency. They coordinate transportation schedules for maximum efficiency, monitor route planning, dispatch, and delivery timelines. This role involves supervising drivers and other staff involved in operations, conducting performance reviews, training, and addressing concerns. The Operations Manager identifies and implements process improvements to reduce operational costs and enhance service quality. They handle client inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure high customer satisfaction. Ensuring compliance with national road safety and regulatory requirements, as well as company policies, is crucial. The Operations Manager tracks spare parts, tools, and consumables needed for fleet maintenance. They also support senior management with administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, handling communications, and preparing reports. Accurate records must be maintained, with regular reports on fleet performance, fuel consumption, revenue, and expenses provided to management.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transport Management, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years in logistics, transportation, or fleet management, preferably in a managerial or supervisory role. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, logistics management software, and GPS tracking systems is essential. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are needed to effectively manage team members and communicate with clients. Analytical skills are required to assess operational needs and optimize performance. Familiarity with Nigerian transportation and haulage regulations is preferred. A valid driver’s license and knowledge of safety and compliance regulations are also necessary.
