MAIN PURPOSE OF THE INTERNSHIP

Join us for a 3-6months program offering personal and professional growth as you work with experienced team members. We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Payment Operations Intern to join our dynamic team. As a Payment Operations Intern, you will support the Payment Operations department in managing and optimizing payment processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in payment transactions, and assisting with various administrative tasks.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Assist in timely and accurate processing and reconciling payments and receipts.
Support the management of payment gateways, ensuring seamless and prompt processing of all transactions.
Query data from various internal and external databases using database tools such as SQL, Snowflake and Metabase.
Provide technical and operational support for mobile money wallet-based products operations including Cash Advance and MyHealthFunds. This includes client support to Cash Advance, provider till operations, exit processing, system reconciliations and technical support to CALC users.
Co-ordinate the implementation of key initiatives across teams.
Generate, synthesize and analyze reports related to payment activities, presenting findings to internal and external stakeholders while identifying areas for process improvements.
Track key performance indicators and proactively identify and address areas requiring intervention.
Monitor and resolve payment discrepancies or issues, coordinating with internal teams and external partners as needed.
Assist in maintaining and updating payment records, ensuring full compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Participate in the development and implementation of new payment processes and tools.
Provide general administrative support to the Payment Operations team, including data entry, document management and other operational tasks.


EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & KEY SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES





Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Financial Engineering, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and SQL; knowledge of Python is a plus.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
Basic understanding of payment processing systems and financial principles is preferred.
Experience in insurance/healthcare is a plu
