Need your advice.
Now I have work close to home and it is very convenient. But I was offered a job on the opposite side of town with a slightly higher salary. I don’t know whether to agree, because the difference in money will go just to pay for travel. I will also spend many times more time getting to and from work.
What would you say?

  • I suggest that you look at a number of things ,NOT money alone. For example, what is the work environment like, which company promises more in your... future such as prospects for promotion, skills development, public perception of the company, convince e.t.c  more

  • I have looked at jobs 45 mim drvie time each way and gas cost ad food cost and stayed where i was. I liked my job's at the time and the increase in... pay was not going to put anything in my bank account. If you hate your job but if you like it stay and make yourself as valuable as you can and the money will come in. more

  • I think uour best bet 8s to s5ay where you are, unl3ss you're extremely unhappy. Ir sounds like the move takes more of your time and in the end... doesn't equal any salary increase. Better for your health and self-care  more

  • This depends on your motivation, some people are motivated by the pay rate, while some people are motivated by the working environment, the caliber of... people they will work with, the exposure that comes with working for that particular company. I would recommend you choose the company where there is an opportunity for your career growth. more

  • At the end of it all...health is much more important than wealth!

  • I think you know your answer.

  • You are only looking at this through the eyes of money. What about your mental physical and emotional? Will this job give you so much peace that when... you go on vacation your not crying when you return? How demanding is this position? Is it worth losing sleep because you have to travel a little further? A job is a tool that helps fuel the life style. Don't make it your prison were yard time is a must. more

  • If the stress of travel and the extra money being used for that out weighs the good in the job closer to home give it moe thught. Money is not always... the solution. Live below your means. Also you spend more waking hours at work so you want peace of mind there.. write up the pros and cons of each job and then as best as you can make the right decision for yourself. You might be going from the frying pan to the fire. more

  • Nowhere in your post do I read why you would consider the job switch in the first place. Will the job “across town” provide a much better work... environment, opportunity for career growth, a more pleasant work environment? If all true, maybe the real question is “Should I move?” more

  • Hi Kelvin,
I want to apologize for this late response to your question. You already proffered the solution in your question. It is not sensible to... work for transporters in the name of more income that is not going to be available for the maintenance of your family. I believe the right thing to do is to let go of the new job offer, and maintain your job and have your peace. more

  • Your description indicates you are not excited about the new offer because your commute time increases and slight salary increase will be eaten up by... travel expenses.
Those are important considerations. But if you are currently stuck in a dead end job and the new position gives you a much better career path, then it may be worth the sacrifice. Good luck.

  • All money ain't good money. So if the extra money is worth the extra distance and/or extra stress of said travel enough for you to deal with, then by... all means take the gig across town. But also consider your peace of mind. If that travel is gonna be a burden on your spirit, then take the job that is closer. Hope this helps. more

  • If the travel takes the pay upgrade then is your heart in the job with compassion and is the offer a hearts desire. However, the stress you can do... without. I encourage you to pray and look for an affirmation and confirmation. Signs and wonders. more

  • Firstly you have to consider the stress and also your time of getting to work
The salary might end up being for transport which means you won't have... any gain at the end of it more
