Hi, everyone! Please help, what should I do now? I’ve only been working at this company for two months, and during our usual Friday beers after work, I accidentally told one of the bosses that there was milk in the kitchen (I meant a milkshake). He wasn’t drinking beer because he was driving. But it looked like I was mocking him, like he was a little kid. Everyone laughed and he clearly got offended.
I feel terrible. How should I approach him and apologize?

  • Go talk to him. Let him know what you meant to say, how you feel about it, and apologize for offending him.

  • Did you offer the "milkshake" clarification at the time? Are you certain he "got offended"or did he perhaps feel slightly embarrassed at the... attention? What's to be offended about given he was the designated driver?

I've been the pop, tomato juice, Perrier or "other" drinker in many group situations and would probably have laughed along if it were me. Fun fact according to an online source: The annual winner of the Indy 500 "drinks milk in Victory Circle at Indianapolis Motor Speedway."

  • I knew you were unable to drink due to possibly being designated driver or understanding definitely have a Beer when you get home we can drink beer... together as Online Happy Hour more

  • Just tell him laughly that it is a prank hahahaha.

  • Go talk to him. Let him know what you meant to say, how you feel about it, and apologize for offending him.
