While there is nothing inherently wrong with this approach, it is nonetheless unconventional. That said, though, it might be worth asking the question... for purposes of context and clarity. Knowing what went right in an interview is as important as knowing what went wrong. Typically, and I'll say this again, interviews are generally used to determine culture fit and are used less to determine expertise. Expertise is usually determined by the CV, so when a candidate gets to the interview stage, the company already knows they have the knowledge and skills to do the job. It is not uncommon to find the employer being favorably disposed towards you. When I was interviewing somebody and I needed to fill the position quickly, I asked the candidate to bring a set of clothes in case he decided to stay.
