Hey! I’m currently on maternity leave, but I’m supposed to go back to work next week. My baby is still breastfeeding. Do you think it would be okay if my nanny or my mom brought the baby to the office once a day so I could nurse?
I’m not really sure how to bring this up with my boss yet.

Talk to HR, they are mandated to give you a private area to pump. You cannot bring a baby to the work place (safety reasons) but you can still pump... and freeze. Unless you want to sit in your car and feed your child  more

  • You can always express your milk to be fed to the baby in the day, but do most of the feeding at night, the baby can bres#eastfeed even when yoy are... asleep so long as you plance the bay in safe comfortable position. more

  • To be successful it takes everyone to be going in the same direction together. All I can see in this situation is the man who is the idea generator... feels that his contribution is greater than everyone else. All three of you need to do is a have a meeting and let him know that no one person is greater than the collective and we all have to work together for the company to be successful division does not help us! more

  • Consider this. What does the work place policy say, if company is family friendly and it allows babies in office for short periods or during early... postpartum then speak to your boss about that.
    You can have alternate options
Bring the baby in just to nurse briefly during a break is an option.

You need to communicate clearly with your employer and also you need to understand the policy of the organization.

  • An approach for bringing it up is to make a call and share that you have a problem and need their input for a reasonable solution. 😉 This... includes them and also will foster rapport to be a team player. Consider what is reasonable for you and your newborn first, as in how long and what your schedule is for breastfeeding.

  • Bosses normally accommodate reasonable requests. My boss let me bring my kid to the office in the summer or other holiday or if my parents were away.... He said if it impacts production we would have to talk.  more

  • Legally an employer is to make accommodation for a mother to produce human milk. Many jobs will attempt to intimidate women for providing nourishment... for their children. Please do not bring you child to work, power pumping is a better way. Many mothers have done this while drinking two hours one way for higher education. Bringing your child makes it seem easy it maybe for you but no others. Creating this flexibility is forced and illegal. Know your rights first.  more

  • Are you storing your milk? If your baby isn't taken the bottle from you. You have to let baby k ow that it is your milk. Have ao.wone else feed... her(you have to act like you left the house. Leave a blanket with your scent on it for thevperson feeding your baby. That helps. They may cry, but it is best to train now. You can do it. And express your milk 1 to 2x+ if lucky. You can train your body. Nbdeink enough watwr for your body with. Too much will decrease your milk..stress will too more

  • I would ask your boss. If he really wants you back he should understand.

  • Consider expressing your milk on breaks and possibly breastfeed on your lunch hour. They are supposed to accommodate you with a space. But I recommend... not exposing your body as to the discomfort of those who are aware or educated about the culture of breastfeeding.  more

  • Start with a review of company policy and state/federal law. Then approach your boss with a plan for how it will work, including time of day,... location, length of visit and contingencies for conflicts with meetings and office commitments. The more organized and specific you are, usually, you will get more agreement. more

  • I would start power pumping (google it) that way you can create a stash during the times he isn’t nursing during your off week. Then the nanny can... bottle feed. I’ve had to do that  more

  • Yes. Our Account had a baby recently, her Nanny is with her in the Office 8am to 4pm every working day.

  • Have a good chat with your Boss on this. Arrangements could be made for you. The labour act already gives you the right to 1 hour out of the 8 hours... for breastfeeding/nursing. This is solely for nursing mothers more

  • "Hi [Boss], as you know, I'm breastfeeding and would like to discuss arrangements for nursing sessions. Would it be possible to have my nanny bring... the baby to the office once a day? I'd appreciate your understanding and support." more

  • You could check with your policies at work and if they're conducive for nursing your baby. In Uganda, we do not have that many work places that favor... nursing mothers. I, for one, had to temporarily rent a hostel near my work place for two months after my maternity leave so I could go back and forth during my lunch break to check on my baby and nanny and breastfeed as well.
