SAFETY AND RISK OFFICER 


Monitors compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, Municipal safety, Health and Environmental Standards, Policies and Procedures.
Keeps abreast with amendments to Occupational Health and Safety Legislations and industry best practices.
Conducts independent inquiries into the occurrence of reportable incidents and fatalities and acts as liaison for the Department of labour inquiries.
Assists the Manager Safety and Risk in collating municipal wide accident/incident statistics.
Plans and conducts internal safety and risk audits through consultation with respective Cluster Management.
Plans and conducts workplace risk assessments through consultation with respective Cluster Management.
Undertakes research into the introduction and application of new products, work methods,processes and equipment.
Co-ordinates the administrative dimension associated with various tasks.
Ensures Municipal staff receive appropriate training in Health and Safety. 


SENIOR SAFETY AND RISK OFFICER 


Assess, mentor and monitor new Safety and Risk Officers developmental needs in terms of the Units Skills Development Strategy.
Participate in Safety departmental planning.
Consult with Line Management regarding Health and Safety audits and Risk Assessments conducted in all Clusters.
Co-ordinate the Safety Department expenditure in conjunction with the Manager (Safety and Risk).
Complete health and safety audits and risk management processes.
Compile monthly reports on services rendered to eThekwini Municipality Clusters.
Conduct external health and safety audits.


Essential Requirements

SAFETY AND RISK OFFICER 


Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Safety Management.
Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Certificate (HIRA).
Health and Safety Auditors course.
Valid motor vehicle driving license
3 Years relevant experience in Safety and Risk Management.
Computer Literacy.


SENIOR SAFETY AND RISK OFFICER 


Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Safety Management.
Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Certificate (HIRA).
Health and Safety Auditors course.
Valid motor vehicle driving license
4 Years relevant experience in Safety and Risk Management.
