  • I'm curious. Let's pretend you're the HR recruiter. What if the job required a relatively higher level of organization and presentation skills and... attention to detail was considered essential to job success. You have three applicants with equivalent credentials and experience. Would you take the relative quality of their resumes into account?  more

  • no not at all

  • I will add that a clean, well-organized and attractive resume can be considered a sample of a job candidate's work. And for many employers and many... jobs, "attention to detail" is a critical job requirement. Employee attention to detail in the transportation, food processing, pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors, for example, can literally be a matter of life and death for users and consumers.  more

  • Let's talk about some career "facts of life". The onus is on the job candidate to demonstrate that he or she possesses the ability to do the job.... Resumes and interviews are means of sorting the mediocre from the better and the best candidates. And as you may be aware, many candidates never reach the interview stage because their resumes contained grammatical errors, were poorly organized or weren't pleasing to the eye of busy HR professionals.

When you consider the costs associated with recruiting, orienting and training new employees, organizations are keen to make the best choice. Given this context, a mediocre or low quality resume may be considered an indicator of substandard performance.

  • I am not sure about the question “necessary”. A resume is your first impression given to the employer. It’s part of how you present yourself. If... the resume is full of typographical errors it “says” something. Not sure based on what you’ve written what the issues were or for that matter what the position is. If there is some disconnect between the interviewee and the information on the resume that might also be an issue. There’s not enough information to make a more definitive comment, but a problematic resume could be a legitimate reason not to hire.

  • Simply very bad. Did you engaged?

  • No, its not. The recruiter has probably never had to deal with being food insecure and is probably a little tyrant. Apply for union jobs!
